Mohd Najib bin Abas of Najib & Associates visited the Center for Applied Research in Islamic Economics and Finance (CIEF) at Ibn Haldun University on August 11, 2026. The introductory meeting included an exchange on the Center’s ongoing and planned activities.

A research project developed within CIEF’s participation finance research agenda, examining trust and competing expectations among participation banking and savings finance customers, has been awarded support under Ibn Haldun University’s Scientific Research Projects (BAP) Program.

Prof. Hacı Mehmet Günay, a member of the CIEF Board at Ibn Haldun University, has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the Central Advisory Committee of the Türkiye Participation Banks Association (TKBB), effective July 1, 2026.

Building on its ongoing contributions to the institutional and policy development of participation finance in Türkiye, the Center for Applied Research in Islamic Economics and Finance (CIEF) at Ibn Haldun University is contributing perspectives and policy recommendations to the preparation of Türkiye’s 2027-2030 Participation Finance Strategy, led by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Investment and Finance Office.

Fatih Al of CIEF and the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University presented "The Role of Faith in Moral Decision-Making: Personal Accounts from Muslim Third Sector Leaders in Asia" co-authored with Prof. Mehmet Asutay at the 38th SASE Annual Conference in Bordeaux, France.

In a webinar co-organized by IHU CIEF and the Department of Economics, Prof. Shafiullah Jan discussed the development of Islamic finance in Pakistan with reference to institutional and regulatory infrastructure, Islamic banking and finance, participatory models, case studies, and the broader perspective of Islamic economics.

In a webinar organized by IHU CIEF and the Department of Economics, Prof. Zurina Shafii, Assoc. Prof. Muhammad Iqmal Hisham Kamaruddin, and Dr. Wan A’tirah Mahyudin from USIM discussed governance, audit, and accountability mechanisms in Malaysia’s Islamic finance ecosystem.

Ibn Haldun University participated in AlBaraka Summit through Prof. Hasan Vergil’s presentation on participation finance sustainability, Dr. Ayman Bekiroğlu’s waqf panel contribution, and research presentations by Salim Saidy and Namra Muhammad.

Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar delivered a special talk titled “Building Bridges, Lighting Beacons” at Ibn Haldun University. The program addressed the moral, institutional, and developmental potential of Islamic economics and finance in relation to global crises, the ummah, and Türkiye-Malaysia collaboration.

Ibn Haldun University hosted the Türkiye-Malaysia Islamic Capital Markets Forum on June 2, 2026. The forum explored collaboration opportunities in Islamic capital markets, participation finance, cross-border investment, and adaptation finance.

The webinar titled “The Development of Islamic Finance in the United Kingdom” co-organized by the Center for Applied Research in Islamic Economics and Finance and the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, was held online on April 30, 2026. The webinar featured Prof. Mehmet Asutay as the speaker.

The Center for Applied Research in Islamic Economics and Finance at Ibn Haldun University and the Department of Economics co-hosted a two-part academic program with Prof. Asad Zaman on April 14, 2026. In the first part, Prof. Zaman delivered a seminar, followed by an open talk at the Econ Lounge.

The Second Issue of Muamelat: Journal of Islamic Economics Has Been Published
