The Ibn Haldun University Center for Applied Research in Islamic Economics and Finance (CIEF) has begun providing academic support to the Capital Markets Workshop of FinansGenç, a program designed for university students interested in finance and Islamic finance.
As part of this support, Dr. Fatih Al of CIEF participated in candidate selection interviews held on October 3, 2026, for the workshop's new cohort. The interviews considered candidates' academic and extracurricular backgrounds, their understanding of the FinansGenç program, their ability to commit to regular participation, their motivation, and their broader development goals in the field of finance.
The FinansGenç Capital Markets Workshop is designed to help university students develop both conceptual knowledge and practical familiarity with Islamic economics, participation finance, and capital markets. The program is expected to cover topics including the foundations of Islamic economics and finance, the financial ecosystem and regulatory framework, participation capital markets, sukuk, and emerging trends in participation finance.
At later stages of the workshop, students will also take part in group projects and case-based exercises that allow them to apply their theoretical knowledge to financial analysis and decision-making problems. These activities are expected to require participants to assess investment alternatives by considering financial return, risk, and social impact together and to present their findings at the end of the program.
CIEF's contribution is expected to extend beyond the candidate selection stage through academic guidance and evaluation during the workshop's project and applied learning components. Through this support, CIEF aims to encourage young participants to engage with Islamic economics and finance at an early stage, connect academic knowledge with practical applications, and strengthen their capacity for analytical and project-based work.
