The First Issue of Muamelat: Journal of Islamic Economics Has Been Published
Published by the Ibn Haldun University Center for Islamic Economy and Finance Research, Muamelat: Journal of Islamic Economics has released its inaugural issue, marking its debut in the academic community.

Ibn Haldun University The Islamic Economics and Finance Application and Research Center has launched Muamelat: Journal of Islamic Economics with its inaugural issue for the academic community. The journal aims to contribute to scholarly knowledge in the fields of Islamic Law of Obligations, Islamic Commercial Law, and Islamic Economics by publishing original research articles, translations, and other scientific studies.

In addition to Turkish, the journal also accepts submissions in Arabic and English, and it will be published online and as open access twice a year—on 30 September and 30 March.

What’s in the First Issue ?

In the first issue, Md Noorul Qamar’s article, “Islamic Economics Literature in India” systematically examines the historical development of the Islamic economics literature in India and its early outputs; Şeyma Bozoğulları presents a qualitative analysis of the financial preferences of interest-averse individuals in her study titled “An Examination of the Purchasing Behaviors of Individuals With Interest Rate Sensitivity: An Interview Study” Yunus Araz, in “Compensation for Benefits in Case of Ghasb (Extortion) and Itlaf (Destruction) in Terms of Islamic Law” discusses Islamic legal approaches to compensating benefits in instances of usurpation and destruction. Tamer Zourob’s article, “The Historical Existence of Financial Penalties” investigates the historical presence of monetary penalties across different civilizations and religions. Finally, through Ottoman qadi court registers, Şeydanur Altuntaş Kerim analyzes intra-family debt responsibility and the practice of spousal maintenance within a juristic framework in her article, “Family Debt Liability in Ottoman Law: Marital Maintenance in The Context of Kadi Registers”
