The Second Issue of Muamelat: Journal of Islamic Economics Has Been Published

Muamelat: Journal of Islamic Economics, published by Ibn Haldun University Center for Applied Research in Islamic Economics and Finance, continues its publication with its 2nd issue (Volume 2, Issue 1). This latest issue, now available on DergiPark, features five research articles and one book review addressing both theoretical and practical issues in the field.

 

Contents of the 2nd Issue:

The articles in this issue focus on various disciplines of Islamic economics and law:

  • The Majalla and Hanafi Jurisprudence: An analysis of the reasons for departing from the prevailing school opinions (muftâ bih) in the Mecelle-i Ahkam-ı Adliyye, with a specific focus on contracts of guarantee (kafâlah) and transfer of debt (hawâlah).
  • Participation Banking Practices: An evaluation of the interaction between participation banks and conventional banks within the framework of the principles of "necessity" (darurah) and "need" (hâjah) in Islamic jurisprudence.
  • Methodological Discussions: Fundamental challenges in the process of establishing Islamic economics as an independent scientific discipline and proposed solutions.
  • Economic Thought: An analysis of Ibn Khaldun’s perspectives on property rights.
  • Classical Contract Theory: Discussions among Hanafi jurists regarding the definition and legal nature of the Bey‘ bi’l-Vafâ (sale with the right of redemption) contract.
  • Book Review: An evaluation of Ramazan Araz’s work titled The Waiving of Rights in Islamic Law (İslam Hukukunda Hakkın Iskatı).
